Speak
face-to-face with your loved one no matter where in
the world you happen to be! Care-Age of
Brookfield was among the first health care
facilities to introduce "Skype" to their residents.
The
program "Skype" is on our Life Enrichment Center
laptop and the Chapel PC. This FREE program
allows your PC to connect with Care-Age's PC, enabling
face-to-face conversations in real time. You
simply need a PC with a built-in or add-on video
camera with a microphone. Most laptops/notebooks already come equipped with these.
Assuming you have
high speed Internet access, you need only to download the free Skype program, from
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/ , for Windows, or
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/macosx/ , for Macs.
Install the program, and
follow the onscreen instructions. They're very simple! Then, click on the
olive green Skype icon in the lower right taskbar, click the "Contacts" tab,
and "Add" button. Then enter Care-Age's Skypename: "careage" (without the
hyphen). You're done!
Once added, you'll
be able to call us whenever the Skype icon next to our name is green.
Just click on the dark green phone symbol. If the Skype icon is gray,
it means that we are not available or offline. It is best to call the
Life Enrichment Center
office and set a time and date to place your call to your resident. We
will make sure he or she is available at the computer. All PC to PC calls
are FREE!
